A secluded farmhouse situated in a rural position with views down a long drive.
The farmhouse has a great selection of barns, outbuildings and stables around two courtyards behind the house. The buildings are a mix of red brick, local stone and wood cladding.
The house has a large open plan country kitchen, the dining area is in a light filled room surrounded by plumbago and opening onto gardens either side.
The hall and sitting rooms downstairs are full of an interesting collection of art and furniture creating a homely space. All rooms have large sash windows and look south over the lawn and far reaching countryside views.
Outside there is a vegetable garden, orchard, treehouse, summerhouse and swimming pool. Paddocks, fields and a lake surround the outbuildings.
One converted barn houses a state of the art recording and mix studio spread across two floors.
The studio area is on the ground floor with a large recreation area on the first floor. There is also a small kitchen. Band accommodation is across the courtyard.
Bands as diverse as Black Sabbath, One Direction, Tine Tempeh and Emeli Sande to name a few have recorded here.
At the heart of the studio is an expansive control room. From this is a large glass wall looking into the main live space.
The recording room has a towering gabled ceiling and original wooden beams. The room comprises a beautiful oak floor and 3 tall stone walls that produce a fantastic live sound. Two large windows overlook the countryside providing substantial natural light.
The room houses a drum kit and Yamaha g3 Grand Piano.
There is ample floor and ceiling space and natural light. There are countless beautifully maintained guitars by the likes of Fender and Rickenbacker, and amps by Ampeg, Fender, Marshall and Vox. Also a Yamaha upright piano in the room. On the opposite side of the control room is the second live space.
The second live room is different, there is a large carpet and several fabric panels for a more controlled sound, however it still features original stone walls and high ceiling for a live feeling. Collection of microphones at the studio include AKG, Coles, Neumann, Royer and many more. Special customised absorption panels, offering an assortment of bass traps and full range absorption.
Opposite the second live room is a good size isolation booth for vocal recording or a suitable alternative for tracking guitars.
As with the rest of the studio, the booth benefits from clear visibility to all the other rooms through a number of large soundproof windows, which enhance the open and expansive feel of the studio.
A Minstrel’s Gallery overlooks the main tracking room.
